Reconfiguring Your Outlook 2007 Account

  • Begin by opening Outlook 2007.
  • Click the "Tools" menu at the top and you will get a drop-down window.
  • Click on the "Account Settings" option and a new window will pop-up.
  • Under the E-mail tab, select your email account and click on the change button.
  • Change the Incoming Mail Server to: mail.wisemen.net
  • Change the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to: mail.wisemen.net
  • User name: Your user name is your full email address (ie: john@wisemen.net) DO NOT USE THE % sign in place of the @ sign.
  • User name: Your user name is your full email address (ie: john@wisemen.net) DO NOT USE THE % sign in place of the @ sign.
  • Password: Enter your password in box. Check the remember password box. If you changed your password already, please not that it was defaulted back to the temporary password. You can change it again by going to: http://mail.wisemen.net
  • Click on the More Settings button in the lower right corner after you've filled in the above information into the boxes.
  • Click on the Outgoing Server Tab
  • Check the box that says "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication".
  • Check Use same settings as my incoming mail server radio box.
  • Click on the advanced settings tab
  • Under Incoming Server - DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING. Make sure the box that says "This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)" is checked.
  • Change the Outgoing Server (SMTP) Port to: 465
  • Make sure SSL is selected for "Use the following type of encrypted connection"
  • Click "OK"
  • Click the Test Account Settings button to test if the current settings work correctly
  • You will see the status of the SMTP and POP3 connections in the Test Account Settings dialog box. Click close after all tests complete successfully.
If any "Tasks" don't get a green checkmark then write them down. Double check all your settings and try the test a second time. If some of the tasks fail, plesae call Tech support and be sure to tell the tech that you are using Outlook 2003 and that you did a test connection which identified certain areas where you aren't able to use your e-mail (Those are the areas that didn't get a green checkmark). If you successfully tested your account settings then click the "Close" button.
  • Click Next on the Internet E-mail Settings.
  • Click Finish on the Congratulations page.
